Fixed inputs and outputs always connect to an output or input with a matching number. For

instance, an element with a single mono output, (output 1), will always connect to the left side

input, (input 1), of a stereo element, as shown below. This type of configuration should be avoided,

because the presence of an unconnected input can create problems:
